Tariffs and US Shipping Suspension

TLDR: Ploopy is suspending US shipping services for the foreseeable future. You are free to put in an order if you like, but we don’t know when it will ship. Customers with outstanding orders may request a full refund.

We received a notification this weekend from Canada Post, our shipping service, that shipping to the United States from Canada would be suspended starting on August 25th (today) due to the upcoming de minimis trade deadline.

This matches the world-wide trend of national postal carriers suspending services to the United States. Germany, France, the UK, Spain, and India are just a few countries that have suspended service to the US.

As much as we wish to service our friends and supporters in America, this is quickly becoming a decision that isn’t ours to make. Even non-postal carriers such as DHL have announced a suspension of US imports, meaning that our options for shipping to the US are rapidly disappearing.

There is a lot of news and speculation flying around regarding this topic. Based on our survey of what’s in the news and some of our contacts in the industry, nobody knows what things will look like in a month, or a week, or even tomorrow. I won’t pretend to know better by making guesses.

During this period of uncertainty, the main thing that we care about is making sure that nobody is badly surprised. Given that we can’t guarantee if or when parcels shipped from Canada to the US will be delivered, we’ll be suspending shipping to the US immediately.

If you’re still interested in a device, you can put in an order, but we can’t guarantee when it will ship. We really hope that this will be resolved soon, but we can’t make promises.

Additionally, if you have an outstanding order from the US and want a refund, please send us an email at contact@ploopy.co and we’ll get that taken care of quickly.

Thanks for your patience.
